You can send money to anyone with a South African card account by using their cellular number.
How do I get the Spot app?

No, for your own security you cannot log into your account on multiple devices.
What is 3D secure?
3D secure is a method of security mandated by the Card Associations to enhance the security of online transactions. 3D secure authenticates that the person loading the card is the owner of the card. This is done by requesting information from the user that is loading the card that could only be completed by the cardholder them self, like sending an OTP to the cardholder’s mobile number.
Spot does not have control over the 3D secure process as it is a Bank administered system. You can find out more about 3D secure by visiting https://www.vcs.co.za/profile/3dsecure.asp
Which cards does Spot support?
Spot supports the use of debit, cheque and credit cards which are enabled to transact online. Your card will also have to be able to go through a 3D secure process. Spot does not support the use of international cards.
If you are having trouble loading your debit card, please contact your bank and request internet transacting and/or 3D secure capability on your card.
You can read this article to find out more about the difference between internet transacting and 3D secure enabled cards and how to go about enabling these features at your bank.
Why does 3D secure ask me to pay ZAR 1.00 (R1) TO WIGROUP1?
In order to authenticate and validate whether your card is valid, the 3D secure process reserves R1 for the merchant on your behalf. Please note that the funds are never deducted from your account. The transaction is simply a test transaction and will never result in R1.00 being deducted to pay WIGROUP1.
Can I load two cards or more at the same time?
You can only have one card linked to your cellular number at a given time. To load a new card simply go to Menu => Account Settings => Card Details.
How much does it cost me every time I Spot someone?
You can pay with either your debit/cheque card at a fee of 1.5% of your transaction value or your credit card at a fee of 2.5% of your transaction value.
What if my friend isn’t registered on Spot and I want to send them money?
Your friend will receive an SMS with a unique link that, when opened, will do one of two things:
- If they are on an iOS or Android device they will be directed to their appropriate store to download the app.
- If they aren’t using a supported device they will be taken to a mobile site where they will be able to claim their funds.
How long will it take until my friend can see the cash in their account?
The transaction is processed immediately and then it will take around 1 – 2 working days for the money to reflect in their card account.
If the recipient of the payment hasn’t registered or loaded a card on Spot we give them 7 days to do so until we send the money straight back to you.
Is there a limit to how much money I can send?
Yes, you can send up to R2000 daily, and R10 000 monthly. You cannot transact more than these limits.
How do I know my friend got the money?
You’ll receive an email notification from Spot the moment you make a payment. Depending on the banks you are with this may take around 1 to 2 working days. You can also view the status of your transaction within the app. One black tick means your payment has been made but not received. Two blue ticks mean the payment has been successful and funds will settle in 1 to 2 working days.

Is there a limit to how much money I can earn by inviting friends?
